Bringing our Māori strategy Te Pae Tata to life
03 December 2019.
To help bring our new Māori strategy and action plan Te Pae Tata to life, we recently launched a new cultural capability framework for our staff.
Known as He Matapihi ki Te Ao Māori, the framework provides a basis for building the cultural capability of staff across MSD so we are able to identify and develop skills, knowledge and practices to perform our duties in a culturally informed way, and in turn support good outcomes for Māori.
He Matapihi ki Te Ao Māori supports staff to:
- Take culturally informed approaches to their day-to-day work
- Ensure policy, programmes and service delivery reflect and are appropriate for the needs of Māori
- Engage effectively with Māori on relevant matters
- Foster workplace cultures that respect and value the skills, experiences and perspectives of Māori staff and whānau, hapū and iwi.
The framework will evolve as we continue to develop as an organisation.
A cultural app known as Kimihia, has also been launched to support staff along their learning journey.
