Addressing Issues with the Fair Residency Bill

The New Zealand Superannuation and Retirement Income (Fair Residency) Amendment Bill (the Fair Residency Bill) seeks to increase the main residence requirement for New Zealand Superannuation to 20 years. There are a number of key problems in the Fair Residency Bill as currently drafted. The papers which have been proactively released address these issues and these decisions have been incorporated into the Ministry of Social Development’s advice to the Finance and Expenditure Committee.
