Accessible Information Training
These free 2-hour workshops can teach you about accessible information in both digital and print formats.
The workshops are run by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), in collaboration with the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) and members of 3 Disabled People Organisations (DPOs).
Who can attend?
The workshops are open to all staff from central government organisations and local government bodies, including:
- Public Service and Non-Public Service departments
- Crown Agencies
- Te Whatu Ora
- local councils
What’s covered at the workshops
This training can help you understand why accessibility is integral to engage effectively, how alternate formats required by disabled people, and provides an overview of digital accessibility. The training covers:
- what accessible information is
- why information needs to be accessible
- the drivers and standards for government information accessibility, for digital and print accessibility
- presentations from people with disabilities and why accessibility is important to them
- making online/digital information accessible
- providing documents in alternate formats
- practical accessibility tips.
Training dates
Training sessions are held online monthly via MS Teams from 10am-12pm. They’re available on the following dates:
